Mobile phone personalisation

I've always been against the whole personalisation of mobile phones thing. To me, it seems such a waste of time and money, not to mention effort, just to get something for your phone. Mobile phone personalisation can come in a range of different ways. There are things such as different mobile phone covers, things to hang off the little hole in the edge of your phone, ring tones, display pictures... I could go on for a while.

For things such as ringtones, I can see the point. When your phone rings, you'd rather that you can tell that its yours instead of around 10 people fumbling around for their phones until somebody realises that its theirs. Thats usually the person who last finds theirs. At least personalising your ringtone is practical.

Everything else just seems like a waste of time. Things to hang off your phone make it bulkier and more prone to sticking into your skin somwhere where it can hurt. Display pictures hardly ever get seen, phone covers... well.. maybe if you're worried about your phone overheating from having too dark a cover. Or maybe if you can't see your phone cos its too damn reflective.

I'm actually being kind of hypocritical. My phone is like one of the hardest phones to personalise. Theres no hole for things to hang off, you can't change the cover, its hard to change the ringtone from anything other than the presets, and the display picture is that of a couple of cows. However, I've temporarily managed to personalise it. Apart from all the scratches on it, it now has a rather striking blood stain. Don't ask me how it got on there, but I'm pretty sure its my blood. But hey, at least its original.
