Not so bad as it seems

I don't think my CPU has gone that bad. I just opened the case up (actually it was already open) and took off the CPU fan. You woudln't believe how much dust was in there. Adrian might, since I think the same thing happened to his AMD 2000+ fan, but yeh. Basically, the fan was blowing at a wall of dust instead of through the heat sink grill. It didn't really make that much of a difference at the time because it was fairly cold weather. But yesterday was hot, and that kind of made the whole situation worse.

So anyway, I took the fan off, and out, and cleaned it out. I thought it was a bit dangerous to use water on the electrical fan, but it was taking too long using a cotton bud. So after the water :), I just used the hair dryer to make it all dry again, then chucked it back in.

Now its running at a pretty constant 38 degrees (thats like, almost body temperature!), so I shouldn't have any more problems in the near future. Looks like I won't be getting any replacement either. Phew, theres a few hundred dollars at least that stays in my bank account.

Uni today was okay though. SAD seemed to go for a lot longer than it normally does, and there were no more cognitive psychology labs for the rest of the semester, so I spent the time playing pool with Mica and Eric. Also, there was that 'Very Special Kids' fundraiser on, and people I knew were helpin, so I felt obliged to buy a sausage. Ah well, all for a good cause. I saw Magic Dave there too, and we killed off another hour reading the newspaper. Networks was pretty boring, but at least they told us a bit more on the project.

Had the usual KFC lunch with Sam. Nobody else came today, it was quite disappointing. But we had our traditional chat. Now that I think about it, the approach you made was pretty creepy Sam, maybe try something more subtle next time :) If there is a next time of course.

Everybody seems to be having an accident lately. So my car was almost full on the way home. Did the rounds, ate dinner, and came back home to fiddle around with the computer. Not such a bad day.
