This is bad...

Having a bit of trouble sleeping. Couldn't get to sleep last night until about 1:30am. Its almost 2am now and I'm still having trouble getting to sleep. Have to get up both days at 6:30 - 7am. I don't know if its related to the previous post, but chances are it is. Nothing happens by coincidence, or by an act of God (but that one is between you and the insurance company).

maybe you're just tired ali? sick of the mundane routine of everyday life (i.e. get up, go to work, work, go home, eat, sleep, and repeat)?

maybe this is boredom at its most extreme. how about paintball? take your frustrations out at whatever it is that's bugging you on some poor unsuspecting person you're creeping up to with a gun in your hand.

as another viker believes, it's the start of a new year (aren't we lucky we get 2 chances with chinese new year as well), so it's the chance to begin it and see life in a different context and make a go at it. sorry about all this BS self help stuff - i just came out of a training session which taught me "how to better myself!" yay.

and not all chicks have hooked up! olga has magical setting up skills. she can work her magic on you.

Dr Hwang gives an uncertified advice to Allycow.

1) Get a chick
2) Hit the gym
3) Hit the gym with the chick (unless she's already tankier than you)
4) Go out with Sam for late night suppers for protein

The above four should cure whatever you have, but you have to wait till Sam comes back.

I agree with sam in general, lack of sleep, lots of work and not enough exercise is quite unhealthy and quickly leads to depression.

But then, which came first, the chicken or the egg. Is depression cause by an unhealthy lifestyle or the other way round?

Sometimes I feel that everyone around me has something going on except me. Maybe that's how you feel. I tackle that feeling in two ways: get and work towards a goal to keep your mind occupied (the last few days it's been to make my computer silent, it's almost too quiet in my room now); luckly I have friends that have even less going on than me (like alex :) ) so I just look to them and feel happy about myself. :D

okay as a chick, i don't fully understand, so please explain.

just how does ali getting a chick (unless you want one ali) solve ali's problem??????

what happens then if it doesn't work out? do you fall back into this weird mood? possible even worse?

Oh the wisdom of the ages...

Ali cbf getting a chick. Thus he needs a chick. Said enough already.

Hi Ez,

Contrary to your male friends' assessment, I don't believe the solution to your mood is a chick. If you do get a chick and it doesnt solve the problem, then you're just stuck with a chick who'll be unhappy that you're unhappy. And when chicks get unhappy, they can make your life miserable. Trust me, I am a chick.

I agree with the Vikings, nothing like shooting something to change your mood around.

I think the main quality in a chick is that I have to 'click' with her.

However, thats not really a quality. I'm not fussy, as most of you would likely know.

hwangus said...

See, he needs a chick. He wants a chick. He just cbf asking her out, dating her, playing the game, figuring out if he really likes her, figuring out if she really likes her or not and the whole deal.
Instead of saying 'oh nah he doesn't need a chick you need to shoot something blah blah blah yeebebe yey e bbebe' why don't you grab his hand, get him a chick and give him some motivation to procreate? Girls, when will you ever learn?!?!?!?

hwangus said...

Correction: '...if she really likes her or not...' --> '... if she really likes HIM or not...'

geez calm down sam, no one here is trying to attack you. you know other ppl can give their opinion on a matter. it ain't like shooting someone (all be it with just paint) won't in some way help relieve ali of the weird mood he is in. a girl is not the end all and be all solution to this.

you just have it in for us vikers don't you?

ali if you want a girl, like her, get the same kinda signals back from her, then sure i agree with sam, go get her, take the plunge. if you just want to take some frustration out and shooting someone seems to do it for ya then go for that too. whatever takes your fancy to make you feel happier then go for that option. right now it seems like i shouldn't in anyway say anything more to you in the form of my "opinion" in case i do incur the wrath of sam...again.

and why don't YOU sam grab his hand give him a girl and give him the motivation to procreate. i'm sure you have a gaggle of chicks that you know that you too could set him up with.

I'm flattered by the number of responses. Firstly, I'd have to agree with Sam in that I don't want to play the game, however, I understand that its probably a neccesary evil in today's society.

Secondly, maybe I'm missing the whole shooting thing. I haven't played a decent computer game for at least a couple of weeks.

i just want to make it clear that at no stage did i advise you (god forbid me too) that you do not need a chick and instead to go shoot someone as an answer to your problems as insinuated by some. i merely gave another option to vent some frustration. heck i would say that whoever the chick is she's one lucky girl to have you! i merely asked how a chick would solve this situation, but it seems that even asking a question can be a crime these days.

on the contrary we offered our matchmaking skills (though however bad and dodgy they maybe) for you if you so please to ever use. melbourne uni is supposed to be one big fishing pool ali, and i'm expecting to see you with a fishing rod when uni starts again at the end of this month. though don't ask me for any fishing tips. i just eat them.

If Ez has a girl in sights, and its the lack of her company thats making him less jolly, then by all means go for it. But I'm just saying you shouldn't bank on having someone around as the solution to your problem.

Having a gf around can a good thing (we can be downright entertaining), and if you want one and have one in your sights, go get her!

P.S. Ez, you're not a bad looking guy, quite intelligent and well groomed. I say that unless a/the girl is a complete bitch, with a bit of interest, she'll probably be flattered enough to go to KoKo black or wherever with you. If she's not, no loss. But I still think you should shoot something first.

Wow Ez really is the master of attracting comments on blogs with minimal initial input from himself...

As a totally unrelated comment (just to increase the comment count), today i found out that there is a Victorian Statute which looks like it makes blogs (and, presumably, comments) exempt from the hearsay rule. That is in normal talk: this is all possibly 100% admissible evidence in a criminal trial. Be very, very careful about what you say.

[Cough, VMs re: shooting ppl]

P.S. it's nice to see we all care about our little Ez so much haha.

Girls girls girls.. So sensitive!

Think about what 'getting a chick' means first... It doesnt' mean that he should grab any chick next to him and start dating her. Obviously he can only get a chick if he likes the chick and the chick likes him back (like I've already said above)

But, for that to happen, Ali needs to make himself available in the dating scene. Now the practical problem to this is the fact that Ali cbf playing the game. If he's actually introduced to girls then he might start liking one of them and start actively chasing her which would result in him possibly feeling more motivated in his life? I'd hate to be too simplistic but our DNA is designed so that it's normal to feel the need to procreate and that might just give Ali the motivation to get out of his mood. Need I explain all that?

Sure it's not a be all end all solution to Ali's mood but hey, I also added in 'hitting the gym' part and going out with me Sam the entertainer which you completely ignored.

As for ME (coz I am such a stud arent I) not grabbing his hand and finding him a chick - I would have if I could.

Geesh, I don't check back on ez's blog for 2 days and it all goes to hell! :)

Age, that's a very interesting thought there about the hearsay thing (link us up if you have one).

Sam VS VMs: I agree in priciple with what sam's saying, which I think is that depression may be caused by a lack of relationship. I mean, human's are social animals afterall, and there's a reason people have feelings and urges. I'm not saying to go out if you go out and find a chick all your problems will go away, but you have to determine what's the cause of depression, is it boredom, loneliness, lack of motivation/goals etc.

But while your analysing yourself, your still gonna be depressed, so doing something to deal with the symptoms in the meantime is wise advice as well. I'd say you should consider the VMs paintball invitation.

Until next time,

Skype Love Doctor

PS: BTW, do you wanna go gokarting this sunday night?

ali grab a bunch of people, coupled and single, get those people to grab their people and hit moonlight cinema. and do your thing.

there's a setting in which anything could happen.

Mally: Thanks for the compliments.

Hwang: Gym?? I think I prefer just to run/walk with the doggie :)

VMs: Fishing pole? Melb Uni IS dept? been there, done that. Even then, the ones I haven't seen (first years?) would be bordering on paedophilia.

As for the moonlight cinema, well... sounds like an idea, but now that a large number of people I know reads this thing, they might as well just set me up directly.

Yeah. I'm damn lazy.

Evidence Act 1958 (Vic) s 55B:
http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/vic/consol_act/ea195880/s55b.html

The limits of this bit of the legislation apparently haven't really been tested. Some ppl have argued that it only applies to autonomous computer information - like ticket machine records or something. But if it did, it would be kind of pointless because the hearsay rule only applies to PEOPLE, so that sort of thing wouldn't be excluded in the first place.

To me it sounds pretty wide - the problem that might arise is proving that the computer was 'working properly' haha [s 55B(2)(c)] Although it is still up to the court to refuse anything if it really feels like it.

Anyway, have a read if you're really bored (^_^)/
